Kids Love Opera!
Help students discover the wonder and fun generations have adored—introduce them to opera!
Experiencing masterworks of composers like Mozart, Rossini or Puccini in the context of a vibrant story nurtures children’s appreciation for timeless music and the performing arts. Offering dramatic arts enrichment also helps:
Fuel kids’ imaginations about creative careers including singing, playing instruments or designing sets, lighting, and costume design.
Teach life skills such as the joy of teamwork and admirable audience behavior.
Boost students’ academic performance and help bridge achievement gaps.
Orchestrate these benefits with Kids Love Opera!
Each spring, Salt Marsh Opera stages an exciting production like The Magic Flute or La Cenerentola (Cinderella), sung in English and perfect for young audiences.
When you invite Kids Love Opera! to school, you receive a teacher’s study guide, then you and your students welcome a singer and accompanist into your classroom. During this stimulating 50 minute session you and your class:
Unravel the plot, meanings and music of the featured opera.
Explore opera basics, and audience etiquette and emotion.
Enjoy song selections and join in!
Share secrets of the singer’s life journey and success.
You and your students then attend a 1-hour opera performance and, if there's time, dive into a friendly post-show Q&A with company players and the Artistic Director.
